I have to say, I don't understand why people moan so much about SP2. As far as I'm concerned, it's the best SP Microsoft could have bought out for the more conscientious user who wants to help stop the ever expanding problem of trojans/viruses/zombie machines out there in the wild.
I'm not saying it's not without it's faults ... but it's a darn site better than XP vanilla flavour.

well SP2 wouldnt affect anything at all.. theres a possibility thats its your PSU, some no name brand ones at a 400 watt rating arent nearly as good/stable as a quality 400 watt PSU, would you consider buying a new PSU to see if it solves your problem? If you would consider this as an option give me your budget and ill try and hunt you down a good PSU.

Hey kuji, could you possibly take the case off of your PC and check the sticker on the side of the PSU for us? I'd like to know what amperage is written on it for 12v. This is very important with modern hardware. I always suggest 18A minimum, or even better a dual 12v.

Check for BIOS updates for your motherboard.

You might also want to run a test on your PCs memory. Grab a copy of memtest and leave that running for a while.

Hiya kuji,
Most likely it is a heat related problem, amd chips run hot and if the agp card is near the cpu it could really build up. Does your casing have an extra fan for air circulation?
Try poking a regular electric fan near your cpu to see if it helps.
Hope this helps.

Have you checked your RAM latency timings? If not, you need to see which brand and model number you have and hunt down the latency timings. This is then adjusted in the BIOS.
It could well be a problem with the memory not storing the information correctly if the settings aren't running at there optimal settings and then the information comes from the graphics card and is causing the corruptions to occur.
The only other option i could suggest, is to swap out the card with a spare you may have or borrow a friends card and see if that resolves the problems.
Just remember to uninstall the drivers and use driver cleaner before putting in the new card.

When you go into the BIOS, what does it say in the CPU settings?
Custom, fixed, By Spd etc etc?
Make a note of all the settings and add them in here for us to look at. We may be able to help you.
Also, what BIOS version are you running?
Addition - I found the BIOS details for your Mobo. Seems the search function doesn't seem to be working properly on the ASUS website. At least I hope that is the problem you were having in trying to find the Bios updates. Here you go.

jump your CMOS and restore your BIOS settings to default.....

A couple of things worth trying going by other threads and posters that have had success with these options are as follows.
1. Up the AGP Aperture size to 256 and then 512. Ok, you might be wondering why, but I remember an article I read some time ago, that also said increasing the size to double or Quadruple your Graphics Card memory size can actually help with performance. Also, the guy that did this, had a similar card to yours if I remember right, with 128mb. He increased it and it fixed his problem.
2. The other option is to do with your DRAM timings. You will need to check the make and model of your Ram and then look for the dram timings on the web. Then add these into your Dram Timing options. You will need to change the Timings option from auto to manual/custom and then enter the details in the correct settings given in the Bios.
They are just two options that you can try for now.
Only try one at a time as changing too many things at once, never shows you what was actually the cause of your problem.
